Laughlin is a city on the Colorado River in the far southern tip of Nevada, especially known for its casinos and outdoor recreation areas. While it's just 90 miles south of the more popular city of Las Vegas, there are plenty of things to do in Laughlin.

The nightlife is centred around the gaming spots and casinos lined along the riverside, with plenty of large casino-resort complexes offering all sorts of entertainment. If you're more outdoors-oriented, incredible recreation spots include Lake Mohave and the Big Bend of the Colorado River Recreation Area.

    Don Laughlin's Classic Car Collection is a museum within the Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort Hotel and Casino. It displays over 80 antique and unique classic cars across over 2 separate levels with a total space of 30,000 sq ft.

    The vintage vehicles are sourced from private collections, including some of Don Laughlin's very own. It’s free for those with a casino player’s card or just a couple of dollars for the general public. Don Laughlin's Classic Car Collection is one of the most popular and best-valued museums in Laughlin, making it a nice spot to visit on overcast days.

    Riverwalk

    Laughlin Riverwalk is a paved trail connecting most of the major casinos along the riverfront. Located along the Colorado River, walking or cycling on the pathway is a great way to soak in some of the sights and city skyline.

    The main trail goes for 1 mile, running along the length of the city centre. You can extend your journey further into the Colorado River Heritage Park, which has a network of trails towards the north of Laughlin. It’s most popular at night when you can enjoy views of colourful lights on the casinos and hotels.

    Golden Nugget Casino is one of the most popular hotel-casinos in Laughlin. It's located right in the middle of the city centre, on the edge of the Colorado River. You can check it out any time of the day, but the casino gets especially lively at night.

    Golden Nugget Casino has table games and poker machines, along with a race and sportsbook. The huge complex includes a 300-room hotel, a gaming casino, various dining options, live entertainment, and retail outlets. You can find it across the river from the Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport.

    The Christmas Tree Pass offers a scenic drive just outside of Laughlin. The 12-mile gravel road is off Laughlin Highway and leads you to the Newberry Mountains. The highlight of the drive is the incredible views of the Colorado River Valley and the Mojave Desert.

    The highest point of the road is known as Christmas Tree Pass, named after juniper trees growing in the area. Many people bring along ornaments to decorate the trees when they pass through. The road is in fairly good condition, often taken as a short road trip by those driving between Laughlin and Las Vegas. There are also some nice hikes around the mountains if you want to stretch your legs.

    Lake Mohave

    Lake Mohave is a manmade reservoir that straddles the Nevada and Arizona border. It’s located just north of Laughlin on the Colorado River. The lake was created in the 1950s, named after the Native Indians who lived in the area.

    The 67-mile-long lake is an incredibly beautiful place to spend some time away from the city, offering a wide variety of outdoor activities. Fishing, boating, kayaking and swimming are common on warm days. You can also go hiking, biking and horse riding in the surrounding area, which offers beautiful views of the lake itself. There are 3 campgrounds at the lake's shore, so you can even turn a visit into an overnight stay.

    Davis Dam

    Davis Dam is a manmade site on the Colorado River just 3.5 miles north of Laughlin city. The Dam was completed in the early 1950s and generates up to an impressive 2 billion kilowatt-hours of energy every year.

    While it’s not possible to tour the dam site, you can still enjoy the beautiful view from the top of its walls. You can see right across Lake Mohave, which sits behind the dam, and further afield to the surrounding canyons and rocky desert mountains. There are hiking trails along the river towards Laughlin, offering a great view of the dam itself.

    The Laughlin Labyrinths consist of creative stone patterns on the hill just above the city centre. The work of local artists, it's a lesser-known yet interesting attraction in the city. 

    It requires a short walk up to reach the mazes, but you’ll be rewarded with some beautiful views over the city skyline and far-reaching desert terrain. You can find around 8 labyrinths in total as you wander around from one to another. There is no official signage but it's simple enough to navigate by yourself. It's especially popular with families looking for a great outdoor activity.

    Grapevine Canyon is a shallow ravine in the Newberry Mountains. It’s especially known for containing hundreds of ancient petroglyphs amidst the rocky granite landscape. It's located on Christmas Tree Pass Road, just 8 miles from Laughlin city centre.

    There is a 3.5-mile walking trail that takes you through a sandy riverbed into the mouth of the canyon. You’ll easily be able to spot the magnificent petroglyphs on the rock walls around you. The trail continues up the canyon with spectacular views of the Colorado River valley. Seasonal waterfalls and natural baths are available within the canyon area.

There's also a campground for those who want to spend the night by the river, though it requires additional fees.
