North Dakota is a state in the U.S. Midwest famed for its collection of Native American art, its immigrant history and its wild landscape. Near the border with Montana, the rolling fields of the Great Plains morph into the rocky, uneven Badlands area. Theodore Roosevelt National Park offers hiking, cycling, wildlife viewing and river sports along the Little Missouri River. In the eastern part of the state, the city of Fargo hosts thousands of examples of Native American and modern art in its Plains Art Museum. The Scandinavian influence on the region is honoured in Minot at the Scandinavian Heritage Association.

Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park allows the chance to explore a recreated outpost once occupied by General Custer. For exciting animal encounters, the Red River Zoo allows you to see such unique and beautiful creatures as grey wolves, meerkats and rare, endangered red pandas. A more unique and unusual attraction awaits along the Enchanted Highway, where a scenic drive is dotted with huge sculptures made from scrap metal.
