Wild Bill’s Western Store is an excellent spot to get kitted out in true Texan style. The store is in the historic West End of downtown Dallas. It's easily spotted with its large neon sign and 20-foot longhorn displayed over the entrance.
You’ll find everything you need here to pass as a cowboy, from the obligatory cowboy hats and boots to belts, buckles, and all manner of Western accessories. Shoppers don’t just come here to play dress up or buy a few souvenirs though – you can unwind with a free cold beer in one of their Longhorn Chairs while choosing the perfect pair of cowboy boots.

Galleria Dallas is a popular upmarket shopping centre in North Dallas, at the intersection of Interstate 365 and Dallas North Tollway. Among the stores are many big names like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Zara, H&M, Michael Kors, and Apple. There are lots of food options available too – check out Oceanaire for excellent seafood or Mi Cocina if you’re looking for Tex-Mex inspired dishes.
The Galleria Ice Skating Center offers lessons to everyone, from the fresh beginner to the competitor, as well as daily public sessions. Exclusively for the kids, The Play Place is a rainforest-themed playground on the 3rd floor, right under Galleria’s distinctive domed skylight.

First Monday Trade Days
A treasure trove of bric-a-brac at one of the USA's largest flea markets

First Monday Trade Days is a monthly flea market held in Canton, about 60 miles east of Dallas. It’s worth the trip to see this popular market, reputed to be the biggest and longest continually operating flea market in the USA. The market takes place from Thursdays to Sundays, right before the first Monday of the month.
You’ll find almost everything imaginable at First Monday Trade Days, including arts and crafts, collectables, home décor, vintage clothing, and jewellery spread across hundreds of acres. There’s also an ‘unreserved’ area available on a first-come, first-served basis for vendors who arrive on the day. There are also plenty of food vendors. Entry to the market is free but many of the nearby car parks charge a few dollars for the day.

NorthPark Center offers plenty of high-end brands among its 200+ stores. Here, you’ll find luxury brands including Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Bulgari, and Versace. Beyond shopping and dining, Northpark Center has some interesting offerings. The Bookmarks Library is the first children’s library inside a shopping centre in the USA. Highland Park Village is an upscale shopping centre and National Historic Landmark, due to its distinct open-air Spanish-Mediterranean style. Home to around a dozen restaurants and 50 boutique-style shops, this is a great place for a stroll around the landscaped grounds while enjoying a spot of shopping in Dallas.
If you’re here to buy, you’ll find many of the best-known luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel, and Gucci. There’s the Highland Park Village Theatre if you want to catch a movie. You can even do some grocery shopping at Royal Blue Grocery. Highland Park Village has 6 dine-in restaurants to choose from, as well as a bakery and Starbucks.

The Bishop Arts District is a hipster-friendly area of Dallas, well-known for its vibrant nightlife and generally laidback atmosphere. This bohemian neighbourhood is spread out over 2 blocks, with lots of unique shops and boutiques, as well as plenty of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.
Entertainment-wise, there are lots of large-scale street murals to view. Enjoy regular live music performances at the art deco Kessler Theater. If film is more your thing, you’ll find cult movies drawing the crowds at the Texas Theater. Located 10 minutes southwest of downtown, in the centre of North Oak Cliff, you can reach the Bishop Arts District by trolley car from Union Street Station.

Allen Premium Outlets is a shopping area with over 100 brand name outlet stores selling their wares at impressive discounts, usually between 25% and 65%. Among the big names, you’ll find the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Nike Factory Store, Under Armour, The North Face, and Michael Kors. There are lots of good deals to be had for the adventurous bargain hunters.
Not surprisingly, Allen Premium Outlets draws huge crowds, including tour buses filled with visitors from Europe and Asia. It’s best to visit midweek as the weekends can get hectic. Parking nearby can sometimes be a hassle, but there’s ample parking available to the north – just be sure to follow the signs.

West Village is a lively and accessible shopping and dining district in Uptown Dallas. Over 100 shops, boutiques, restaurants, and entertainment venues line the walkable streets of this urban village that has come to be known as Uptown’s Downtown.
If you’re passionate about food, the West Village Foodie Tour is a great way to sample excellent culinary offerings while learning about the area's 125-year-old history. West Village is just 2 miles north of Downtown Dallas. You can get here on the blue or red DART line – just get off at Uptown/City Place Station. This might be your best travel option, as finding available parking in the area can be challenging.
