Localidad muy linda, poca oferta gastronómica, no hay supermercados y no hay oferta de entretenimiento nocturna Ideal para descansar y relajarse.

A la entrada del paraíso
El Lodge está situado a la entrada del Parque Corcovado, por la zona de Los Patos. El hotel es muy bonito, entero de madera exquisitamente mantenido (de hecho, dentro de las instalaciones hay que caminar descalzo). El propio hotel cuenta con un terreno de varias hectáreas por el que se pueden realizar caminatas (tienen varios senderos señalizados) y ver distintos tipos de animales, como varios tipos de monos o reptiles. También tiene playa accesible en coche a pocos kilómetros

Goed gelegen huisje in vallei San Gerardo de Dota
Ontvangst ok. Er werd ons verteld dat wandeling naar watervallen niet moeilijk was terwijl men in principe niet verder mag dan de eerste waterval wegens slechte staat van bruggetjes , trappen en wandelweg.Op internet vindt men dat de wandeling gevaarlijk is. Wegens de zeer koude nacht ( ong. 4°) was zeer onaangenaam in het huisje. Er is geen verwarming en het water van de douche was eveneens koud.Gelukkig verbleven we hier maar 1 nacht.

BE INCREDIBLY CAREFUL ON THE ROAD
Be prepared for how cold it gets there, even in summer. We were disappointed that there was no hot water for a shower. Anywhere else in CR we could have put up with a cool/cold shower, but not there on the mountain. The road getting up and down the mountain is horrendous. We had a lovely breakfast at the motels restaurant.

Spacious room surrounded by wildlife
The staff here were so accommodating. They allowed me to check in very late (~10pm), showed me around my space, which was surprisingly large and far more space than I needed, had a ridiculously delicious breakfast ready at any time that I wanted, accommodated my need to pay by credit card even though their machine was down at the time, and the list goes on. The room itself had plenty of blankets which I needed for the cold nights and was tidy and cozy. It also had a back patio with hammock overlooking the stream bed filled with wildlife - I even saw a coati in the yard! - and a garden full of flowers which attracted loads of hummingbirds. But honestly the staff made this place amazing. I had a few nice conversations with the receptionist, who coincidentally was also the chef, maid, etc. and she was just a lovely person. I'd really recommend Cabinas El Quetzal to anyone who's looking for a convenient place to stay while touring the beautiful surroundings looking for all types of wildlife.

Lovely Weekend in a Magical Valley
I was prepared for the type of accomodation this Place offered. The setting is magical along the clear river. The Cabina was clean and very "basic". Furniture ok, not really comfortable. Plenty of blankets were provided and needed as it does get cold at night and no source of heat is available. One night they lit the fireplace for me which was great! The next night no wood, no fire which was disappointing. Nice to have a coffee pot and provided coffee for early mornings as restaurant is not open til 7. I fortunately brought creamer along as not provided. The small fridge is great too. The water in the shower never got hot. It was "lukewarm" for a few minutes. Fine to take a quick shower but not to linger or wash my hair etc. The food in the restaurant was excellent and plentiful and everyone was very friendly. They arranged a horseback tour for me which was the highlight of the weekend! The ride from the main road and the ride back up were $20 each way..kind of steep for the short distance but apparently all lodgings in the area charge at least as much. Only a couple of places nearby easy to walk to. A small soda/coffee shop which specializes in whole trout and a very nice restaurant with beautiful grounds. The on site restauarant was perfect for my short stay! I felt that the value was very good for the price charged and would absolutely return!

Affordable, charming cabin with friendly staff!
Cute cabin right beside the river. Basic but very clean and comfortable accommodation. Loved the hammock on the back patio! Beautiful grounds with lots of flowers, butterflies and birds to see. Very friendly staff and close to the waterfall. One of the best breakfasts I had on my trip. They ask what time you want breakfast so they can make it fresh!
