Worst hotel experience EVER. We were headed to a family reunion in the Kansas City area, and had several family members staying at the Microtel, as well. While we were in the car, just three hours away after driving from Chicago, I randomly received an emailed invoice from them overcharging me by about $150 more than I was quoted and confirmed at. I immediately called the hotel, and spoke to the person on duty. She was very rude, and insisted the wrong room type had been booked by hotels.com, a suite. Although I told her I had the original confirmation from hotels.com showing the proper room type - a standard queen at the right rate, she insisted that we take the suite at that price or go elsewhere. I called hotels.com’s Customer Service and they called the hotel. When they were uncooperative with them as well, it was escalated to a supervisor at hotels.com, but Microtel would still not honor the price nor give us another room, saying they were booked solid. She hung up on the hotels.com supervisor. Sadly, Microtel has lost a customer forever, because of the errors and stubbornness of one, rude front desk clerk.
