This hotel had potential, but man did it fall short. The rooms are very nice and spacious and the bar area is super nice. I particularly enjoyed the mojito demo and a pleasant conversation with the barman. The location is also excellent. The 3rd floor is under renovation. The rooms tend to be noisy, from construction, machinery, and music and conversations from the bar, especially if you are above the bar or on the corridor open to the bar area.
However, by far my biggest issue with this hotel is the misleading and frankly dishonest advertising of the "free day pass" use of the local Equinox. This is nothing short of a timeshare-level scam.
Firstly, I received only one day pass for my 3-night stay, therefore guaranteeing at most a single day of workout. Secondly, when I arrived at the location for my workout, the experience was anything but pleasant. After going through the lengthy check in process, the staff told me, "Ok, enjoy your workout."
Then, as I'm walking to the workout area, I hear: "Oh, actually, I forgot. You have to have a meeting with a membership coordinator before you can work out. Is that okay with you?"
"It doesn't sound like I have a choice."
"It can be as long as you like. 5 seconds or 30 minutes."
So I meet the coordinator, shake his hand, say "thank you" and go to my workout. That's what they told me.
He then follows me through the gym and becomes confrontational. "Actually this is a thing we're doing with the hotel and you have to meet with me."
