As always, location is everything and this apartment’s location is unbeatable. On Rua da Prata one block over from Augusta, the main shopping street in central Lisbon. Close to 2 subway (métro) stations and a short walk to Praça do Comércio. There are literally dozens of restaurants nearby, tourist oriented, but still reasonably priced.
The building is rather nondescript from ground level, with the entrance between a pharmacy and a retail store. From the promotional photos, the building diagonally across the street is quite pretty, but now, and judging from the current condition, for a long time to come, is wrapped in construction shrouds. Occasionally some construction noise can be heard, but seldom and only with the front windows open.
Buzz the apartment on scheduled arrival. The foyer itself is not very welcoming. There is a small (very small) modern elevator. The door closes quickly, so watch yourselves. Two people and two suitcases would be maximum capacity. As is standard in Europe, the ground floor is floor 0. The apartment is on floor 4, right beside the elevator (not a problem).
The apartment itself is very spacious. The living/dining area is especially large. However, this area needs better lighting. Overall, the furnishings are dated but completely functional. There is a TV with multiple video and audio sources. Wi-fi service is good. The balcony is quite narrow. Watch children carefully out there.
