I had a bizarre experience at D’prima. I arrived at 4:30 pm and was instructed to sit in a seating area outside the direct view of the two personnel at the front desk. Despite making eye contact, they ignored me for 15 minutes. When I inquired about the delay, the male staff member finally acknowledged me, only to make me wait another 5 minutes. Meanwhile, a Muslim couple received prompt attention from the female staff member.
After nearly 30 minutes in an empty lobby, I was checked in. I informed the male staff member that I would be checking out at 10 pm and required the airport shuttle. He assured me it was no problem, but when I returned to the lobby at 9:50 pm, I was told the shuttle had stopped running. The new staff member offered to book a taxi, which I declined.
As I waited outside for my Grab ride, I saw the initial receptionist who had checked me in earlier, still present at the front desk. He offered no apology or explanation for the poor treatment. I couldn't help but wonder if my race was a factor in the subpar service I received.
