Around a 2hour drive from Colombo airport to OTP Hotel in Galle. One of the nicer hotels along the strip, as the remainder seemed to be Guest Houses. The view from the hotel was gorgeous, overlooking the ocean and stilt fishermen. Rolling waves and beautiful colours. The hotel itself looks much larger from the photographs, so don't expect large grounds, but rather small quaint dining area and pool. Pool was a touch warm, but perhaps due to the blistering sun around April when we visited the hotel. We were "upgraded" to the Suite E Pie room, however bigger than the room we booked, this was on the ground floor and our door opened out to the gift shop. Not the privacy we wanted, although the doors/windows were all blacked out. We asked to move back to our original room, but they had booked that out. We found it more of a demotion rather than an upgrade. Breakfasts was served by the ocean in the main dining room, mainly outdoor seating. The continental portion was OK, but the food had to be covered by nets to watch out for the flies. Don't expect great things here, but it was doable for 5 mornings. You can also choose from a selction of hot breakfast's, a mix between Western and Local. Overall was ok. The Dinner menu was more varied, but again, don't get yout hopes up too high, and they add on a hefty 30% surcharage at the end so it quickly adds up. Highlights were the special Lobster that was avaialble on our last night ($90 SGD for 1kg) and the Passionate Pussycat cocktail.
