We tried to stay in a quaint old fashioned less expensive place, for once. What a mistake!
The "desk clerk" knew nothing. Couldn't find our reservation, didn't know how to pull it up. Had to yell for help to the office/house attached.
The room was small, dark, dirty and poorly furnished. The carpet was dampish, or so filthy it felt that way. The curtains were mismatched and insufficient. The air conditioner worked, but made strange wheezing sounds during its on off cycle.
And the bathroom, I choose to believe the strange streaks on the walls and baseboards and floor were....paint? Tiny, scratchy, thin towels, 2 of them, and 2 wash cloths, and a bath mat.
Paint scratched and missing and filthy doorknobs.
My list of complaints goes on and on.
This place should be bulldozed.
Ours was room 11. The motel rates as 3 stars, so we gave it a try. Afterwards we read the reviews and we should have known. All either 1 star, or 5 stars. You can guess who has been writing 5 star reviews.
Anyplace would have been better. Next time I'll sleep in my truck.
