The soft furnishings were lovely and the room was clean. Not a fan of old furniture so found it a bit oppressive. The setting looked nice although we did not get time to explore as we checked out the next morning.The mattress was on a solid base which is not good for people with a problem back. I could not sleep because of the pain.My husband , who does not have back problems , also had aches.The private bathroom turned out to be shared with some other guests. The drinks tray was one sitting on a table on the landing. When I went to make a cup of tea, I discovered dirty cups and old teabags and empty milk portion containers. When we left the next morning the tray was in the same condition. We were requested to phone a half hour before arriving, when we did this we spoke to an answer phone. On arrival , nobody was there to greet us or give information. I never spoke to any from the house until breakfast . The staircase was , to me, very dangerous. It was steep with a partial bannister on one side with nothing on the side.The runners and rugs tended to wrinkle up .The danger of tripping was very obvious. Both my husband and another guest did trip over the carpet in the lounge.
I could go on but I think you will have realised how unhappy I felt.I have never left any B&B before after spending only one evening. We were not the only ones who were unhappy with the situation.
