I expected more from this property. When we arrived the main reception was cordoned off without any signs until you reach the doors so we had to go around the building in the pouring rain to find the spa reception, they could have signed it earlier pointing to go to the spa reception to save you some time. Upon leaving we had realised we completely missed out the fancy rooms near the recption due to that part being closed, I think I would have really enjoyed those rooms. The reception staff were lovely and helpful, couldn't fault them at all. We were taken to our room, which felt special but the wardrobe hadn't been cleaned out as we had old socks in there from past guests I presume. When we went to the spa there were a few dead flies and a dead spider on the floor around the pool and facilities were the same as a spa I go to at home but this one costs three times more. Heated floor in the changing room was a nice addition though. When we went to have food at The Clock Tower restaurant, the staff were awful, they were forgetting everything we had asked for: to clean my placemat as it had something sticky on it, our drinks, sauce we had asked for with the meal. I'm not sure of the work ethic but something wasn't working there and you'd think the standard would be high with service at a restaurant in a 4 star hotel. Otherwise the food was absolutely delicious. Luckily, the staff at breakfast were much better and could prioritise the guests. Breakfast was lovely, a nice spread!
