The hotel's location was great, as it sits atop a hill overlooking the city of Gondar. It does make for quite a walk into the city itself. If you are not up for walking, there's usually a tuk tuk hanging out outside, or you can have the hotel call a taxi. It's convenient to eat at the hotel, especially during the fasting time, however their food was palatable but not the greatest. The staff was friendly though, and there's a great souvenir shop located outside of the hotel as well. Besides the church and castle, I recommend going to Project Ploughshare Women's Pottery. The prices are very reasonable, and you will be supporting disadvantaged women.
