My room clearly had not been cleaned prior to my stay. When i arrived (at about 2am as I’m a travelling musician), i popped to the loo but first, needed to wipe off brown smears with a baby wipe, which wasn’t very nice. I went to bed and the bed was ok. I woke up however with some red sparkley sequins stuck to me - i didn’t go to bed with any sequin-adorned attire so i’m not quite sure where they came from.
Once I stood up and walked to the bathroom, i stood on a rather sharp sewing needle protruding from the carpet. It hurt, but i’m guessing it may have hurt more if it was a child that stood on it instead!!
My room was freezing, but that was attributed to the fact that my window could not physically close. It also had a big crack in one of the panes.
There was no information for guests in the room, so myself and one of my friends met in the restaurant and hoped we were still in time for breakfast. There was no menu, and when asked what was available, the member of staff hesitated and offered bacon and eggs. We decided to just have a pot of tea... then minutes later had emails confirming a payment of £5 each charged to our rooms. £10 for a pot of tea? I think it may be cheaper going to the Ritz.
Overall, definitely going to request a refund. Photos taken and everything.
I’m all up for supporting these independent hotels, especially seeing as i’m travelling around the UK all the time. The price was fab for the room, but still not worth the money.
