First the good: the grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The common areas - restaurant, lounge, pool, etc are all very nice and well-kept. This really has the potential to be a wonderful resort! However, the rooms were horrible! The first room they gave us was on the second story of a four-room cottage and no one offered to help us carry our bags up the long flight of steps. Once I was in the room I noticed it was very dark, even with lights on. As I started taking a closer look I saw the room was filthy. There were dead bugs in the closet and bathroom. The sitting chair upholstery was covered in stains and so disgusting I would have been afraid to sit in it. But the worst was the bed duvet cover was also covered in stains, and some of them looked very fresh. It was a duvet so there was no excuse for it not to be laundered before new guests arrived. I went to the front desk to complain. The manager on duty was very apologetic and took us to another room. This on had a queen bed and was on a ground floor (still no one offered to help us drag our luggage back down the steps from the first room).
First impression of the new room was very good, but then I looked up at the ceiling and saw brown spots all over it. Mold! The manager came buy to collect the key to the first room and I pointed it out to him. He said "oh, that's not mold it's from the recent rain." I just looked at him and then he quickly said "it's not mold, we had it tested." Right. What the heck else would it be?
