We recently spent two nights at this wonderful lodge, and wished we had planned longer there. The facilities were comfortable, the food good (and plentiful), and the staff friendly and helpful. However, the star of the show was the lush natural setting, the wildlife, and the birds, birds, birds! There are fruit feeders scattered around the grounds, and they were kept well-stocked while we were there. There was a non-stop variety of tanagers, euphonias, saltators, and barbets throughout the day to provide opportunities for photography. There were also LOTS of nectar feeders around that drew in a wide variety of hummingbirds. A forest blind provided opportunities to see some shyer, skulking birds. All of this made for a wonderful couple of days. Since this was at the beginning of our Ecuador trip, we opted to bird the grounds on our own rather than hiring one of the excellent, local guides. The office manager, Nanci, was very helpful in identifying the local fauna and in helping us to find particular species of interest.
I'm an avid birder but my wife is less such. Séptimo Paraíso provided a great balance of activities for both of us, in a setting we could both enjoy.
