Ok. Lets just start by saying that this hotel has a certain quaint charm, and i can honestly say that the staff i met were cheerful, friendly and helpful.
The building is old, and has some really nice touches, but it is being let down badly by the lack of maintenance, and love, that it's being shown. The toilet cistern came away from the wall in my room when you used the loo - noisy and somewhat alarming until you got used to it! Carpet had stains and was past it's sell-by date. Furnishings were tired.
No wake up calls as no phones in rooms. No plug sockets near mirror for hair drying etc. Lift not working.
Food was adequate, though sticky toffee pud was very good!
I appreciate a building like this probably has ongoing maintenance requirements, but it would shine if shown some tlc. It's quirky, and deserves more.
