We arrived at this property after a long drive and were immediately disappointed. The kitchenette floor was sticky and there were crumbs and debris throughout. We were offered another room, but that one had a strong smell in the kitchen (pot or cooking smells), so we kept the first one.
They did an emergency mopping job, but we never did get a full cleaning. We had to wipe every surface ourselves.
The second main problem with the room was that there was a very strong lamp outside that lit up our room at night. It was strong enough to read a restaurant menu and our room was brighter at night than during the daytime.
We complained to front door staff and emailed the hotel, with no assistance received. In fact, they were rather grudging and unhelpful. One receptionist told me that guests complain about the lights, but they stop when they are told there is nothing that the staff can do about it.
Eventually we had to cover the window with aluminum foil in order to rest.
The hotel is a Holiday Inn Express that rents out its suites as a Staybridge. So it is a very busy hotel that doesn't smell all that fresh. Surprisingly enough the second floor has a conference centre on the other side of the rooms, but we didn't hear the wedding they had on a Saturday evening.
The upsides are that the pool is a nice temperature and the breakfasts are quite good. The automatic pancake machine is a wonderful feature. It's convenient to the I-5 and the airport.
