La Haut is not a hotel or resort. It offers rooms with breakfast. Some of the photos of the hotel are highly misleading, ie - we walked around the resort for 10 minutes and could not find the infinity pool ( apparently it is in the hotel owners own property premises). We checked in and were asked to leave a credit card for extras. This we found ironic given there is no way to spend money at this resort. The bar is closed as is the restaurant apart from for breakfast which is included in the rate. Hotel staff were helpful but not particularly friendly and lacked basic hospitality training. We were staying in Fond Cannes 1. The room had a magnificent view overlooking Soufreire and the pitons. Worth considering this room for the view alone. However it is approx 500-750 metres from the main hotel down a steep windy hill. If you don’t have a car forget it. The hotel do provide a shuttle service to the room but did not offer one back to the hotel & there is no phone in the room to call. Breakfast was very average with the hot food looking and tasting like it was heated from the day before. In summary this place provides reasonably cheap ( compared to other alternatives in the area) accommodation with a great setting and views to die for. But in our opinion you must have a car to make sure you can get out and about given the services the hotel offer are minimal. It is a crying shame that this place has been left to to its current state.
Loved the views, best thing about the place. Didn’t like the fact there is no bar 5 nights out of 7, everything closes at 3 and all the staff disappeared at 5pm. It’s a very steep walk on a busy road to the town, not 15 minutes more like 45. Not recommended. You have to ask for a hairdryer for the room as there are non in there. They were refurbishing a room just 3 doors away and the drilling was off the scale, when we complained the owner said he would stop until we checked out. The drilling stopped but they carried on sanding , electric sawing and banging which is not what you want to hear when you are on holiday. Also the smell of fresh paint was toxic. There was absolutely no shade by the pool, their excuse was the winds destroyed them a couple of weeks ago. The noise from the staff arriving at 7 am then listening to tv shows/ music on her phone right opposite our room was totally out of order. Lots of chatting loudly with staff members again opposite our room in the early hours and later on in the afternoons was disturbing when you are trying to rest. The breakfasts were adequate, lunch was dreadful and took an hour for the food to arrive. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in serious need of an overhaul , it’s in a fantastic position and it could be fantastic, we won’t be visiting again.
HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE!! We booked 3 (THREE) rooms and prepaid for them on EXPEDIA. Upon arrival, the only person available to speak to us was a security guard who told us they only had 2 (TWO rooms). When we explained we had prepaid for 3 (THREE) rooms, he merely shrugged his shoulders and said that is all they had. I had to sleep in same room and share a bed with my colleague. This is completely unacceptable. The service was poor, the room was subpar and there was a security dog roaming the property loose at night which was very discomforting. I would NEVER recommend staying here. To add INSULT to INJURY, EXPEDIA refused to refund the money for the one room paid for, but never received, claiming they are ONLY A MIDDLE MAN. Not only will I NEVER stay or recommend this resort, I WILL NEVER USED EXPEDIA again. BUYER BEWARE!!!
We had to change rooms because the resort wanted to put us “offsite”. Offsite meant climbing a hill to get to breakfast and we were totally away from everything with no TV. The room that we were moved to was Filty and we found dust all over the room. The floors look unkempt and the refrigerator was not working. The bed was lumpy. I worn a slippers in the shower because it just didn’t seemed clean. The room had a odor which didn’t completely go away even when I sprayed Lysol which I did all over the room and bed. We were also told that this room was a downgrade from the one we originally booked but when asked about an adjusted rate i was told to contact Expedia. Suffice it to say I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I felt as if the pictures online were of another “resort”. We felt completely duped and wouldn’t think of returning to St.Lucia if we didn’t spend the rest of our stay at Stonefield.
The only real redeeming qualities of this property is breakfast looking at the Pitons. Breakfast is only average. We do not recommend this place. Dogs bark when you are going to bed and starting at 5 AM. Employees are very LOUD in the morning, again waking you up. The rooms are very close to the road and traffic is noisy, yes even at night. The rooms are not dirty but not clean. There were spiders webs, with spiders, in the corners of our shower EVERY day, so you know it was never cleaned properly. One day we asked the cleaning lady to come back because we were changing and getting ready to go, and she never did come to take care of our room. The pool by the restaurant was dirty and we never saw anybody in it. OH, and the "Snack Bar" was supposed to be open every night, so the two nights we thought about using it, it was closed. Employees did sit at the snack bar and I saw a person inquire about it and they turned him away, how about that for customer service? I am sorry, but this is not a well-run place, maybe it was a few years ago, not now. Again, I stress, this is NOT the place to go. The infinity pool was the best part of the place and it is only available till 5 PM. We did meet the lady who owns the place and she seems nice, not sure she knows about all the problems that need to be addressed. The check-in person was OK but not very friendly. The whole staff needs to learn customer service. The rooms need to be updated and CLEANED thoroughly. I could go on.
the view of the pitons was very nice abd refreshing
La Haut is a special place! It has breathtaking views, great staff, wonderful breakfast, gorgeous infinity pool as well as some cute four legged animals on the property. (The farm animals were a major bonus for me!) Although it is dated and can use some fixing up, you can’t but help love it and call it home while you are visiting St Lucia.
Great location, good accommodation and very friendly
The mosquito net had holes in in. The office staff were not friendly at all. The room was clean and pretty but in need of fresh ingredients up. Was old and worn out looking. Balcony and view was awesome.
Looking for scenery and tranquility. This is the place. The view is breathtaking. Just imagine dining facing the pitons. This is amazing.
