This hotel is near our Grandchildren and Delaware Park Casino. I've kept my doctor in Wilmington, so we stay here a lot. Although it's rooms are extremely compact, they were clean, modern and efficiently appointed. Over the last 5 years this has been declining.
Examples from this trip: HVAC knob rotated 360 degrees and the lettering was worn off, you had to guess heat, AC... Two bath towels the size of my home hand towels, they were rough enough to be considered an exfoliating scrub. The room had an odd smell (I'm male, we don't notice this as much as women, I could only imagine what a woman would think). TV old, no card with guide. Red Roof's famous hard/soft pillows were reduced to one each per double bed.
I may look elsewhere after all these years.
BTW: It's been a while, but the last time I stayed at the other Red Roof on 896, it was a converted Howard Johnson's in need of many updates. I'll give it a try, maybe they've improved the property.
Not a horrible stay, but not the nice little Ikea feeling hotel it once was.
