The hotel was cute and charming. I was on vacation for Spring Break with my daughter and we were having such a good time that I decided to extend our stay. The evening front desk staff was kind and helpful. They added the extra night and assured me I wouldn’t have to pay a second deposit, just come down in the morning to pay and reactivate my keys.
When I went to the front desk around 9:30 a.m., Francesca was working. She didn’t greet me and asked what I wanted. I explained the reservation was extended the night before and I just needed to pay. She couldn’t find the reservation at first, then located it without acknowledging the mistake. She informed me I had to pay the deposit again, even though I had been told otherwise. I asked to speak with a manager, and she refused. I asked to call the manager, and she refused again. I said we would just leave, and suddenly she said she didn’t need to charge the deposit. I asked for something in writing to confirm and she refused. I told her I’d come back later to ask for it, and only then did she print something—at first blank, then finally corrected.
I’m disappointed. The hotel itself is lovely, but I don’t enjoy being treated rudely or talked down to when I’m a paying guest. I probably won’t return, simply because I don’t want to be bullied while on vacation.
