As someone with over 15 years of experience staying at 5-star hotels across India and globally—including hotels like Trump Tower, Trident, Sofitel, JW Marriott, Leela, Vivanta, Ritz-Carlton, and Hyatt—I’ve come to expect a certain standard of service, professionalism, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, my recent experience at Le Meridien was a clear outlier and deeply disappointing.
The check-in experience was disorganized, with front desk staff displaying poor communication skills, inexperience, and a lack of the professionalism expected at a hotel of this caliber. I also received a call at 10pm encouraging me to sign up for a membership—an intrusive and ill-timed disruption that lacked consideration for guest privacy and comfort.
Operationally, several issues stood out: the door battery ran out, a musky odor greeted me upon entering, the air conditioning was inconsistent throughout the hotel, and the security staff behaved in an indifferent and insensitive manner.
Overall, the property failed to deliver on the fundamentals of a 5-star experience—both in service and operations. A significant gap exists between the brand promise and the actual guest experience.
