Was the manager "working from home", we wondered? To list but a few points: The shower was jammed on cold; the basin plug didn't work; there was just enough milk for a cuppa at teatime or a coffee in the morning but not both (a cunning ploy to drum up charges for room service, perhaps?); the room was cold and smelled of damp; the main lamp didn't work; nearby plumbing was noisy all night; the carpets were badly-fitted and frayed; only coco-pops and bran flakes were available at breakfast - everything else having run out by 09:30; the cooked breakfast was either dried-out (mushrooms), finished (eggs), soggy (hash browns) or cold (baked beans); tables were filthy and uncleared; cutlery, when it eventually came, had to be sent back as it too was filthy and my fork still gooey with somebody eles's food; we had to queue both to check in and check out; the pillows were like bricks; no turn-down service was provided; etc. etc. An irritatingly over-priced and utterly underwhelming visit. A 10 minute walk to the nearest parking didn't help either.
