Nice reception area but thats where it ends, corridors & rooms are run down, unclean and the rooms bathroom was from the dark ages. Had holes in the bathroom tiles, insects living by the shower and lacking any room hygiene. Breakfast was also very basic and chaotic, which quickly vanishes - turned up 15mins after it open and hardly anything left. Location is good with all the main sights within easy walking distance and supermarket nearby.

The hotel was old but very pleasant. Yes things were a bit damaged in some areas such as paintwork in the rooms and the slightly old furniture. However the rooms were very clean and quiet and the bed and shower were both great. Breakfast was a normal continental with great coffee. The hotel was in a fabulous location right in the middle of town near both the sites and the station. We left our luggage on the last day which was very convienient, and came and sat in the hotel’s air conditioned lounge before we left. We had a great stay and the staff were all very pleasant.

PROS: The hotel is close to the train station. The breakfast was good with different choices. There are lots of trattorias in the area. CONS : This hotel is old and dated. Our room was grungy with old carpets and tired furniture. It just felt damp and uncomfortable. I will never stay here again.

Location was perfect , the trolley practically dropped me off at the front door, the trolley from the airport no less. Well, the hotel was a typical old hotel, did have a charming foyer and seating area and the room is pretty much only for sleeping, small and spartan. It's in a very good location, and the staff is nice. A good breakfast is included. However, the room is tiny—much smaller than what is shown in the photos on the hotel's website. There is not even room for a carry-on suitcase. If you want to do any computer work, the desk is about 45 cm wide and 40 cm deep.

Central location. Easy to find the hotel from santa maria novella train station. Mercato centrale is a 3 minute walk away. Pompi tiramisu dessert bar is at the end of the street. Our bathroom was very small. No room to move around in the shower. The table service was slow for ordering coffee.

The hotel is in a great location with ease of access from the train station (with a 5 minute walk) and to the duomo and basilica. The rustic style of the hotel fits in with the ambience of Florence, but the mazes to get to the hotel rooms can be a bit difficult with suitcases. The breakfast room was quite crowded and could benefit from a timing system for guests to book a breakfast time.
