Highlights of Marché des Capucins

The biggest attraction of the Marché des Capucins is the wide range of multicultural offerings available. From North African spice blends and ethnic speciality foods to fresh-baked French pastries and cakes and fresh produce from local farmers, you'll find it all here. In the shops surrounding the market, you can find equally fresh local meats and seafood.

The entire square is lined by sidewalk cafes that offer an old-world feel and let you experience the full neighbourhood colour. Though these shops are separate businesses, they act as and feel like extensions of the market itself and add to the overall experience.

What to know about the Marché des Capucins

The Capucins Market in the city centre technically only consists of the farmer's market booths in the centre of the town square and is entirely focused on produce and spices. That means if you encounter any specials for the market, they may not be honoured by the surrounding shops.

The market is an outdoor affair in a level town square, so it's accessible to those with mobility issues, though the aisles can get crowded and may be a bit narrow. Be aware of this possibility when heading there. Likewise, while service animals are welcome, be aware of the crowds before bringing other dogs along.
