Top neighborhoods in Cusco

Cusco Historic Center
Explore museums like Museo de Arte Precolombino and savor fusion and neo-Andean cuisine at local restaurants. Stroll through the artisan-filled San Blas neighborhood for a picturesque shopping experience.

San Blas
San Blas charms visitors with its steep cobblestone streets and artisan workshops spilling onto sidewalks. The neighborhood's colonial architecture frames the iconic San Blas Church, while hidden plazas reveal Indigenous vendors selling traditional crafts. Artists hammer silver and weave textiles in open studios where you can watch authentic Peruvian handicrafts come to life. Intimate restaurants serve fusion Andean cuisine in converted colonial mansions with courtyards and original stone walls. Getting around requires sturdy shoes—most visitors walk uphill from Plaza de Armas in about 15 minutes. The steep terrain creates dramatic views over red-tiled roofs toward distant Andean peaks.

San Cristóbal
San Cristóbal neighborhood delivers Cusco's greatest hits with a side of breathing room. Iconic Cristo Blanco statue stands watch over cobblestone streets where ancient Incan walls peek through colonial architecture. Art lovers can explore the Pre-Columbian Art Museum while history buffs wander Plaza de las Nazarenas. The hillside location rewards your climb with spectacular panoramic views of Cusco's terracotta rooftops. Family-run restaurants serve authentic Peruvian dishes at prices that won't break your budget. Getting around requires sturdy shoes and a willingness to tackle steep terrain. Taxis can navigate the narrow streets when your legs need a break.
Santiago
The Santiago neighborhood offers attractions such as Santiago Plaza and "El Molino I" Shopping Center.

Hotel Hacienda Cusco Centro Historico
"Excellent hotel. Great location near the main plaza, easily walkable. Great onsite amenities such as the breakfast. Clean comfortable rooms and beds. Only downside was that our room faced the street and was very noisy at night"
Hampton By Hilton Cusco
"The room was very clean, staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. One thing only...we would have liked to have one bottle of water per person per day. Also, good location from Peru Rail and 15-20 min walk to the Plaza Mayor."
Wyndham Costa del Sol Cusco

"Todo súper"
Ureta Hotel
"The property is well-maintained and the staff is super friendly. Packed a little breakfast for me before my 4 am excursion pickup. Some of the staff speak very little English, but Google Translate came in clutch. I will say, without a noise app on my phone, I wouldn't have gotten much sleep. The property is pretty quiet, so any noise can be heard throughout the rooms. The room was comfortable - nothing spectacular but perfect for two nights in Cusco. Plenty of food options within a short walk as well."
Sonesta Hotel Cusco
"If I could give this hotel a 10 star, I would. Again, this is just my opinion. Do what you want with this information. Upon arrival you're greeted with a welcome drink and snack. Very helpful staff. I was upgraded to an air conditioned room which was a nice surprise. Slept like a baby with their soundproof rooms. All the staff are very helpful. From check-in to check out. Might I add that their breakfast buffet and 12noon checkout is perfect for travellers with different needs. Free airport shuttle. This place is the best. My only qualm was I should've stayed here for 2 nights. I couldn't have ended my 10 day vacation any better. Muchas gracias Sonesto staff!"
