Manoir de Captot is, as a couple we had breakfast with said, “a magical place.” If you love history & the French countryside you will love it. Entering the property, with its discreet signage, takes you back in time. It is a former hunting lodge, and evidence of that is seen throughout.
The location is perfect for easily getting into Rouen, as well as venturing further afield. We took day trips to Giverny, Honfleur, and Deauville easily while staying at Manoir de Captot.
Our lovely bedroom room was spacious, very clean, and featured views over the expansive grounds. Our bathroom was large, completely up-to-date, and easily accommodated two people getting ready for the day. There is Wifi, which is faster on the ground floor than in the sleeping rooms.
You should be aware that booking through a Web site does not mean payment is completed. Your credit card is not charged, it just guarantees the reservation. You need to pay in full at the Manoir, by cash, certified check, or wire transfer.
Best of all was Michelle, our hostess! She is charming, gracious and funny. She (and India, her lovely Black Lab) greeted us VERY warmly. Over the next several days, Michelle went out of her way to accommodate us – giving practical advice, assistance and providing recommendations. Wonderful warm pastries, homemade jams, freshly squeezed orange juice, cheeses and breads, & coffee or tea all made for a delightful breakfast each morning.
We would definitely recommend Captot!
