10/10 hotel, skip the food.
This hotel is a gem!
Firstly, the location is perfect - a very short walk from the train station, right on the boardwalk, and next to an ice cream stand.
Stayed in a partial beach view room, which had an amazing view of both the beach and the NYC skyline in the distance, which was incredible at sunset. Would definitely take this over a room directly facing the beach! Room was very clean, as was the bathroom. Hotel staff were very kind and accommodating.
The pool, though quite busy on a summer weekend, was great. Be sure to get there early if you want a lounge chair.
And definitely BYOB and bring your own food, because the bar at the pool was pretty atrocious. My wife and I ordered salads, which came without dressing. When we requested dressing (for our different salads), the server returned with two cups of salsa. Drinks weren't much better - very sad selection of canned domestic macro factory beers (save for one excellent local IPA), no wine, and poorly made cocktails - my wife's strawberry daquiri was clearly made with undiluted mixer concentrate!
Breakfast at the main restaurant wasn't much better - slow, expensive, and pretty underwhelming, though the server was extremely nice.
The mezzanine bar was quite lively at night, and had a good selection of cocktails, draft beer, and wine.
Would absolutely stay here again!
