There is a lot of competition for hotels in Beijing. This one lives up to its status as a luxury hotel. The decor is spectacular, filled with lacquer, silk, and original artwork. On checking in, we were told that we were booked in the Garden Tower, which was an old structure from 1987 and showed its age, and were encouraged to upgrade to the Valley Tower, that was only a few years old. This hotel is definitely in a strange location. Not only is in a small lane (like a hutong sized lane), the road to the lane has a "no hired car" sign, so some paranoid taxi and DiDI drivers did not want to drive down the street. We walked most of the time to the next street ("XiaoWei Hutong"?) to get our DiDi.
