Excellent! Had a great time staying at Yushintei. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The room was big, clean and comfortable. Love the private onsen, can relax and enjoy after a long day out. The only downside is they don’t have an in-house restaurant. It would be perfect!

Wonderful overnight stay at Yushintei. Staff were so attentive, friendly and polite. The room was comfortable and spacious. The private onsen was delightful, it was outside but enclosed so you can enjoy the sounds of the crickets outside whilst being in the onsen. All amenities were available, including a nice skin care kit. All in all a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

Gorgeous stay- the staff are wonderfully attentive, the facilities are gorgeous, and breakfast/dinner is massive and delicious. I stayed in a Japanese style room with a shared bathroom, which only really entails a shared shower facility (the rooms have a basin and toilet), which was extremely comfortable. The onsen facilities (three available) are available most of the day, and are privately booked in 40-minute increments, which as a solo traveler I found pleasant to have my own space. There is a short walk from the bus station to the hotel, somewhat uphill, so accessibility wise I recommend for people with a comfortable mobility as I do not believe there is an elevator. I was given a lovely yukata for the stay, which I really enjoyed. I got half board, which was beyond worth it- the quantities for both breakfast and dinner are *massive* and absolutely delicious. Overall, my stay at Yushintei was a highlight of my trip and I hope to return next time I am in Japan/Hakone.

We had a really nice stay, the staff were extremely accomodating and helpful, despite our extremely limited Japanese! The room was clean and spacious, with many amenities provides. Had a great stay here, the staff is very friendly and patient as most communication is via google translate, and they are very good at making sure your stay is pleasant, especially for first time ryokan visitors. I’ve seen some folks say it is an older building, but that is its charm. When you are in the baths, it will all make sense. It was clean and the AC unit worked great. I am only sad that the chef was not working as I’ve seen great reviews about the food, but dinner recommendations were provided. Call ahead to find this out.

Awesome Ryokan in Hakone

Amazing stay! Had the full Ryokan experience with dinner, breakfast, and our own private onsen. The staff was super helpful and delivered excellent service. We had our bags shuttled to the Ryokan from Hakone-Yumoto and then walked ourselves later. We later learned there is an onsen shuttle that may have worked… Something to research.

So firstly this was a great hotel, in a great location, with awesome staff. In fact, I had accidentally left a backpack in a Starbucks in Kanazawa the day before and was leaving for North America in 2 days. I do not speak Japanese. The staff at the hotel actually called the Starbucks for me and made arrangements to have it shipped to my next hotel in a day and a half!! Incredible service.
