2/10
We both woke up early, like 5:00 a.m. and left by 6:00 a.m. The bed was very hard and an old mattress with little squishy pillows. We had loud people out in the hallway during the night, leaving a receptacle full of beer cans. The chateau lets smokers sit on benches right outside the exit doors to smoke. All the positive reviews we read are overrated. We would not stay here again. The ghost town was primarily a collection of items and buildings relocated from other places, including railroad and mining sites. It reassembled—more of a museum of antique artifacts, but interesting. The restaurant's food was also not great; my soup was cold, and the sweet potato fries were okay but not cooked long enough, being a bit soft. The coffee they put in the rooms is also substandard. This is an old, worn, dated, and thin-walled place. The grounds were not even kept nicely, though the courtyard was ok. The lady at the desk asked how it was when we were checking out. I said "not that great" and explained why. She just looked at me, handed my receipt and said nothing as if she did not hear me or care, or was suprised and did not know what to say.
