I suppose the value was there, but this place had some shortcomings:
1. Noise. The doors and floor were both pretty noisy, which made it really easy to wake up your roommates or be woken up. My room also happened to be right off the entrance and people are NOT quiet when they're coming and going, even at night. I could hear all the conversation happening in the lobby.
2. The website says "daily housekeeping." That did NOT happen whatsoever. I stayed here 5 nights and only once was housekeeping done, and it was because a new roommate was starting their stay.
3. The lockers were a bit of a joke. BARELY big enough to cram my backpack in (after Tetris-ing some stuff around inside it), and the lockers weren't attached to anything! They were literally just sitting on the floor! Twice I was trying to pull my pack out of my locker and almost pulled the whole stack over! That also made them a lot noisier because they're constantly rocking and knocking into each other when you use them.
4. The bedding was not especially comfortable. The mattress cover felt like it was made of paper; extra noise and was uncomfortably warm every night (I run hot though, so your experience may differ).
5. The rooms are almost TOO spartan. I wear glasses and would have loved a shelf, a mantle, a stool, SOMETHING near my bed where I could set them. No such thing was present.
I had to keep reminding myself that I was only paying ~$100/night for a bed in NYC. I'd stay here again, but only 2-3 nights max.
