We were in Lisbon for an important event over both days of the weekend and wanted somewhere trusted as a brand so that there was nothing to worry about accommodation wise.
We booked a city view, queen room.
What we got was a room with a brick wall, a view of said brick wall and no view of anything, barely even the sky.
Upon being told the hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t move; I was not staying in what was essentially a basement room when I had spent significant time choosing this hotel specifically.
It then transpired that there was a room available on the third floor which could see the light of day but had twin beds- assured that these could be made into one bed, we accepted the room.
Unfortunately the bed remained two singles and an uncomfortable ridge interrupted sleep quality on night 1.
Upon receiving the ‘how was your check in?’ Email from hotels I gave accurate feedback and the bed was resolved for night 2.
Overall it was fine. It was not a cheap option, which contributed to the disappointment.
The room was clean and well laid out.
Housekeeping came some days, other days they came after 4pm so we were back in the room and missed out as a result.
The laundry room and gym in the basement are really good additional amenities.
I won’t stay here next time I’m in Lisbon and actually needing to book another hotel for an upcoming trip, have found myself actively avoiding Marriott - money can definitely be better spent elsewhere.
