We were disappointed, first by the location. The Gulch did not seem to be the active Nashville neighborhood as advertised and was a good, hilly walk to Nashville's main attractions. The hotel advertised an on-site restaurant, but it was really just a lobby bar with a small menu that seemed to be perpetually understaffed. There was no real table service, even at breakfast where one poor staff member had to handle all the take-out coffee orders as well as the dine-in food orders. The rooms were small with concrete ceilings. We were given a double room instead of the king bed room we'd reserved. Despite the two beds being small doubles instead of queens, with 2 beds in the room there was very little floor space left in the room. I suspect floor space would be fine with a single king bed. The closet was an open, industrial design, the current trend. It made sleeping in the bed on that side of the room feel like you were sleeping in the closet. The safe was in the floor of the closet; to use it, you had to move the ironing board out of the closet to somewhere else in the room. Pluses, the bathroom was nice, and we liked having the filtered water and ice dispenser on each guest floor. There's an excellent Mexican restaurant, Saint Anejo, very nearby.
