We recently stayed in the Grand Suite at Azade Chania, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous — full of historic charm and beautifully restored details. Its location is superb, nestled in the heart of the old town and just a short stroll from the harbour.
The staff were genuinely warm and helpful, and the included breakfast was lovely – fresh, tasty, and served with care. We also appreciated that we weren’t charged for any extras, which made for a relaxed, no-fuss stay. Chania is beautiful!
That said, while the suite was visually stunning and clearly designed with style in mind, we found it a little lacking in practicality. There weren’t many surfaces or storage options, which made unpacking and organizing things like toiletries a bit tricky. There was no dedicated space to do makeup, so I ended up using the dining table for that. Also, while the bed linen looked and felt luxurious, the sheets seemed to be synthetic and made us quite warm during the night.
One other point to note: the listing describes the suite as having a “private” terrace, but in reality, it borders another room’s terrace with only a low divider between them. It doesn’t offer a particularly special view either — you have to lean a bit to catch a glimpse of the old harbour.
Still, despite these small inconveniences, we really enjoyed our time at Azade.
