For a four-star hotel, the property is beginning to show signs of wear and would benefit from a refurbishment. That said, the staff were friendly, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed.
My main issue was with the evening meal. I had a prawn salad to start and beef featherblade for the main. Unfortunately, the prawn salad was poor — the prawns were heavily coated in Marie Rose sauce that appeared to have separated. I felt unwell the following day, which I suspect may have been linked, although I cannot say for certain.
The featherblade was also disappointing. It was overcooked, very tough, and the gristle had not broken down as expected. After a few bites, I returned the dish and asked for it to be removed from the bill.
Given the experience, I chose not to have breakfast the next morning.
Overall, while the staff were pleasant, the hotel would benefit from both a refresh of the décor and improvements in food quality and consistency.
