The Bermuda Haunted History Tour is a walking excursion in UNESCO-listed St George’s. Founded in 1612, it’s the oldest continuously inhabited British settlement in the Americas. As you wander along cobbled lanes and duck into narrow alleyways, a guide in period costume will regale you with tales of those who have lived and died within the past 4 centuries.

Learn about Captain George Dew, a pirate who swapped his swashbuckling life for a serene retirement, playing the harpsichord at the Rectory. Another local ghost, known only as George, is said to haunt Fort St Catherine with his spooky chanting.

The Swizzle Inn opened in 1932, making this one of the island’s oldest pubs. It’s where Bermuda’s famous Rum Swizzle was invented – a cocktail that blends 2 different rums from the local Gosling distillery, shaken with spices, bitters and citrus juice.

The Swizzle Inn’s bold façade is as brightly coloured as its cocktails. Its eclectic interior consists of graffitied walls, business cards, and dollar bills poking from the beams. You can also check out books left by previous patrons, many of which date back to the inn’s early days.

    The Hog Penny

One of Hamilton’s oldest licensed premises

    The Hog Penny

    • Vida nocturna

The Hog Penny opened as a pub in 1957, but it originally served as a meat slaughterhouse and bicycle shop selling penny-farthings. This might explain the establishment’s unusual name. The owners claim the pub was the inspiration for the long-running US sitcom Cheers, though the interior more closely resembles a classic British tavern.

Food-wise, The Hog Penny serves nachos, chicken pot pie, fish and chips, prime rib sliders and shepherd’s pie. We highly recommend the cocktails, especially the Happy's Famous Rum Swizzle, Hog Penny Bloody Mary, and Banana Rama.
