Staff were pleasant and managed to helpfully accomodate our early check-in which was much appreciated. But sadly, we were let down by the facilities. The room we were allocated is not accessible by lift. We had help with our bags to the room which was wonderful but did have to struggle down with them. The room was not air conditioned, the beds were ever so soft and there was quite a bit of noise in the early hours (not sure if it was maintenance, deliveries or kitchen) so sleep was not the best. The bathroom had no walk in shower, rather an overbath one - not great when you have back and sciatica problems. There was also some maintenance and modernisation needed - chipped bath soap dish and broken window stay wire. Elsewhere around the hotel lobbies, decoration was needed. Breakfast was sadly a let down for us. It was a buffet and by the time we came down, there were a few slices of uninviting basic slices of bread and fruit and full English breakfast items that had been pawed over by guests who'd come down earlier. So my friend had weetabix with the last bits of milk that was no longer icy cold and I had a muesli with a pot of yoghurt which was nice. I also requested a glass of orange juice as the breakfast juices had finished. The friendly staff member obliged.
We didnt venture to the spa or pool during our overnight stay.
All in all, lovely staff, beautiful location but extremely poor value for money and a little grotty
