Old Town Chania
Old Town Chania wraps you in a dreamy blend of Venetian and Ottoman charm at every turn. Wander through narrow cobblestone streets that lead to the stunning harbor with its iconic lighthouse. The lively Central Market buzzes with local energy while historic sites like ancient city walls tell tales of Mediterranean history. Mosque-turned-museums stand beside Orthodox churches in this cultural patchwork. The waterfront restaurants serve fresh seafood and authentic Cretan dishes with perfect harbor views. Most visitors stay in boutique hotels housed in restored Venetian buildings with character-filled stone walls and courtyards. This pedestrian-friendly district is best explored on foot, with local buses connecting to beaches and Chania's newer neighborhoods.

Nea Chora
Nea Chora beach offers the perfect mix of golden sand, shallow turquoise waters, and authentic Greek charm without the tourist crush. The promenade buzzes with locals fishing, families swimming, and friends chatting at waterfront tavernas serving fresh-caught seafood. Traditional fishing boats bob in the small harbor while the Mediterranean breeze carries the scent of grilled octopus and wild herbs. Budget-friendly apartments and family hotels line the waterfront, just a short bus ride from Chania's Old Town. Tavernas serve Cretan specialties at prices lower than the tourist centers, and the flat, walkable terrain makes exploring a breeze. When the sun sets, join locals for evening strolls along the illuminated promenade.

Koum Kapi
Koum Kapi's seaside promenade winds along Chania's harbor, where ancient Venetian walls meet the sparkling Mediterranean. You'll find postcard-perfect views at every turn as you stroll past honey-colored buildings with Ottoman wooden balconies. Snag a spot at one of the waterfront tavernas or take a refreshing dip at the small pebble beaches tucked between weathered stones. Fresh seafood dominates the dining scene, with catch-of-the-day specials served on terraces overlooking the water. Boutique guesthouses and converted stone houses offer charming accommodations with personal service. The neighborhood's walkability makes it easy to explore both the historic waterfront and nearby old town without needing a car.

Halepa
Halepa's elegant neoclassical mansions transport you to Crete's diplomatic golden age. Cream and ochre facades line quiet streets where history whispers through ornate balconies and shuttered windows. The hilltop Venizelos Family Tombs reward your climb with breathtaking harbor panoramas, while the restored Russian Hospital stands as a testament to 19th-century political intrigue. A handful of traditional tavernas serve authentic Cretan dishes in this peaceful residential enclave. Most visitors stay in upscale vacation rentals housed in lovingly restored historic buildings. The steep terrain challenges walkers but rewards with exercise and stunning vistas, making Halepa perfect for travelers seeking authentic Greek neighborhood life.

Chania Town
Wander through Chania Town's honey-colored maze of history where Ottoman minarets and Byzantine domes create a living timeline. The gorgeous Venetian Harbor buzzes with energy while cobblestone streets lead to artisan workshops and hidden courtyards. You'll find the lighthouse standing sentinel as fishing boats bob alongside sleek yachts in the crystal Mediterranean waters. Waterfront tavernas dish up fresh seafood and Cretan specialties while traditional kafeneia offer morning coffee with locals. Most sights are within easy walking distance, though those cobblestones demand comfy shoes. Boutique hotels in restored Venetian mansions put you right in the heart of this enchanting seaside gem.

Learn more about Chania
Venetian splendor meets Mediterranean charm in a harbor where fishing boats bob against a backdrop of Ottoman minarets and Venetian lighthouses. The Old Town's labyrinthine alleys reveal surprises at every turn – a Byzantine wall fragment here, a hidden courtyard restaurant there. Maritime history comes alive at the Naval Museum, housed in a centuries-old fortress. Agia Marina Beach offers perfect swimming conditions just outside the city, while Nea Chora Beach provides a more local experience with tavernas serving the morning's catch. The Municipal Art Gallery showcases Cretan artists in a restored Venetian building. For the best harbor views, arrive at sunset when the lighthouse casts a golden glow across ancient waters.

Porto Veneziano Hotel
"Our stay at Porto Veneziano Hotel was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with genuine warmth, setting the tone for a fantastic time in Chania. The hotel’s position right on the edge of the Venetian Harbor is unbeatable. Waking up to breathtaking views of the water and the iconic lighthouse was a daily highlight, and being just a short, peaceful walk away from the bustling heart of the Old Town offered the best of both worlds. The room was pristine, stylishly furnished, and exceptionally comfortable, providing a quiet sanctuary after a full day of exploring Crete. The daily breakfast spread was phenomenal, packed with delicious local Cretan specialties, fresh ingredients, and exceptional coffee enjoyed right by the waterfront. What truly elevated our experience was the incredible service. The entire team went out of their way to offer personalized recommendations, answer every question, and ensure every detail was taken care of with a smile. If you are planning a trip to Chania, look no further than Porto Veneziano. We cannot wait to return and would recommend it in a heartbeat!"
JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa
"I looked forward to this review 7 nights stay #5017 -Hotel overall beautiful. Extremely well done. Modern and peaceful. -Beach is beautiful (mostly on rocky outcrops with a sandy area as well, stunning water) -Room, Superior Suite was perfect, very luxurious for two people. Private pool -Breakfast: inclu, exemplary. Even when tired I would get up to go. Closes 11am, classy to give us that extra half/full hour comparatively. Chef Michael came to ‘help’ me first morning as he saw I was somewhat overwhelmed. It’s complete, regardless of where you come from. They have it all and it’s fantastic. I went nuts for the croissants. Better than Paris. We sat inside Emanuela’s section daily. Warm welcomes from Antonia as well. -Staff: even with a perfect structure and location, this hotel stands out because of its staff. I travel quite a bit, this young staff is a crown jewel of Marriott. From greeting to the time we left they were impeccable. Charming, courteous, welcoming, yet very professional, never got a ‘we can’t’ Front desk Alex (mostly interacted with the moustached one, other one great 2) accommodated anything I could ask. Small Ex: room serviced a cheese platter, realized there’s no bread included, called front desk and asked ‘for a small piece of bread and honey, happy to pay for it’. No no no Sir, it’s our pleasure and there will be no fees. They warmed it up, delivered a beautiful loaf Can’t remember all the names, truly great staff Bravo Marriott for this one"
Corinna Mare
"For starters the staff at Corinna Mare is exceptional - they really look after you and take care of you and best of all super genuine and polite and nice! The property is always well maintained, the beach is literally in their backyard and the dual pools is bonus. One thing you must do is have dinner there - I promise you it is so worth it if you have dorado fish - chefs kiss! The roof we had near the front adjacent to the gate and it had two balconies - one in the bedroom and one in the kitchenette/living space. Used them both at night and it’s such a peaceful treat to have after a long day of excursions and driving. I would definitely come back and stay - I don’t have anything negative to really say here. They even do your laundry for a small fee! Excellent job Corinna Mare team!"

Hyperion City Hotel
"The sea view from the 5th floor was amazing. Nice breakfast. They offer a welcome drink but only one variety premixed. They should include red and white wine too. Over the property is clean and close proximity to bus station"
SanSal Boutique Hotel – Adults & Children 11+
