Learn more about Island Park
Fly fishing the Henry's Fork might spoil you for all other rivers, with trout rising in waters so clear you can count their spots. In winter, snowmobilers carve fresh tracks through forests where moose watch with bemused tolerance. The quirky 33-mile-long 'Main Street' claims world record status, though it's really just Highway 20 connecting lodges originally incorporated to serve cocktails legally. Big Springs bubbles up crystal-clear water where massive trout swim lazily, untroubled by fishing lines. Harriman State Park offers trails through meadows where trumpeter swans nest. Mesa Falls thunders year-round, with rainbows dancing in the mist. After adventures, soak in Sawtelle Mountain Resort's hot springs while planning tomorrow's expedition to Yellowstone, just minutes away.

Sawtelle Mountain Resort
"Room had everything we needed. We used it as a jumping off point for Yellowstone National Park. Drive to the park was easy. Breakfast was great and a good start to the day. Restaurant across the street had great food. Staff was helpful, coming right to the room to help with a TV issue we were having and clearing it up. Will definitely come back and stay if we travel this way in the future."
Island Park Lodge
"At the last minute I reserved the lodge instead of a place in West Yellowstone, and I'm glad I did! It takes 20 minutes to get to West Yellowstone, but on the other hand, we were close to Big Springs, which was a nice place to visit before the park the next day. The lodge met or exceeded my expectations, but there are a few things I wish I knew before going. Good points: 1. The room was clean, quiet, and looked recently updated or renovated. We stayed in a room with two queen size beds, perfect for our father/daughter trip. There was a large TV with Roku. (Someone had stayed logged in, allowing us to watch a few shows (and I tried logging out--it didn't let me) But thank you, whoever your were!) 2. Wi-fi worked great, and there was a mini-fridge, microwave. No cooking allowed in the room, but there is a restaurant attached to the lodge. We didn't go there, though, as we left early morning both days we were there before it was open. Other points: 1. We stayed in a room that didn't have a floor above us. Some reviews have said they found it noisy, so that might be a problem in other rooms. Our room was really quiet. 2. No utensils, paper towels, etc. available. I guess that is natural, but just keep that in mind if you want to prepare sandwiches, etc. Bring everything! 3. The shower had less water pressure than the sink next to it! Ha ha. I don't think that's anything they can fix easily, though, and the detachable showerhead was nice! I would definitely stay again!"
Anglers Lodge
"A great stay ! Bravo to all of the staff. We ended up staying 2 nights, instead of just one, as planned. We are on a 2 week road trip, and this is BY FAR our best stay. The pics of the rooms are actually representative. We will be back !"
Blue Buffalo Resort
"Nice, small, no nonsense rental. Good place to sleep, shower, get free breakfast, and head out on your adventure."
Wander Camp Yellowstone Island Park
"It was well maintained facility with proper amenities! Check in before sunset to get familiar with the place."
Yellowstone Peaks Hotel
"Loved the individual “cabins”. Beautifully decorated. Comfortable. Well supplied with whatever we needed."
The Preserve
"Nice place. Careful with mobile check in. Mobile service is spotty so make sure you review the check in details before getting there. No staff on site. The TV/Roku didn’t connect to entertainment apps. Usually not an issue when outdoors but the weather wasn’t playing along and we stayed inside a bit more than intended."
Drift Lodge & Fly Shop
"Very nice cabin inside."
Yellowstone Glamping
"We loved the tents, super comfy beds! Showers were pretty clean. Nice view of in the mornings! Overall, a fun experience outside of Yellowstone!"
