Learn more about Cripple Creek
Gold rush history meets modern entertainment in this former boomtown where wild donkeys still roam the streets with local blessing. The immaculately preserved turn-of-the-century buildings house casinos that breathed new life into what was once 'the world's greatest gold camp.' Descend 1,000 feet underground at the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine for a fascinating glimpse of 1890s mining life. Beyond gambling, explore the Old Homestead House Museum or catch a show at the historic Butte Theater. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad offers scenic rides through the mountains. Visit in summer for lovely weather, but expect to share the experience with fellow tourists admiring this National Historic Landmark district.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Colorado Springs
"Nice stay"
Quality Inn and Suites Garden of the Gods
"We were given a room and two keys. Went to the room, opened the door and it was full of girls and mom's dressing for a wedding or something. Very uncomfortable for all, me and my 13 year old son included. And worse yet was the front desk attendant was rude, not apologetic and we had to carry all our luggage back up front from the back end of the hotel. We did get moved to a room with a better view, but still..... We also had a view of police raiding a homeless camp. That was interesting, but not the hotels fault."
The Academy Hotel Colorado Springs
"Upon check in staff was friendly. The restaurant was not available and neither was the bar as their bartender never showed up. But the breakfast the next day was pretty decent with omelette station and make your own waffles was nice. We were glad we got there earlier because breakfast closes promptly at 9 AM and the station quickly ran out of items around 8:30. So you’re gonna wanna get there early as possible."

"We were impressed with the hotel staff (shout out especially to Michael at Elevations for going above and beyond to help our kiddo with sensory food aversions!), the amenities (used indoor tennis courts +ball machine, boathouse, all pools), food (not fine dining but everything was either fairly tasty or delicious), the location was gorgeous, and most areas were generally very well maintained. Our biggest gripe was the cooling system (Bear Creek Lodge). While it's great to adjust the room temp in room, the AC unit was very loud and would essentially make the room an icebox while on, then room would progressively get unbearably warm before flipping on again. While on it was very noisy, which made conversation inside or out on the balcony difficult to hear. As a younger family, we enjoyed schlepping up and down the mountain but be warned it is a lot uphill/stairs walking around the resort. If we needed elevator access this would not be the place."

"Beautiful view, good food, great location. I did not like that the main pool was closed to children. It was not a very kid friendly resort."
