Top neighborhoods in Kuala Lumpur

Bukit Bintang
Bustling with shopping and entertainment, this district offers malls like Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, al-fresco cafés, and food streets. Don't miss the Shibuya-style pedestrian crossing and Berjaya Times Square Theme Park.

Kuala Lumpur City Centre
KLCC delivers Kuala Lumpur's wow factor with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers piercing the skyline. Wander through Suria KLCC mall for luxury shopping or escape to the park's dancing fountains. Art lovers can catch performances at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall while adventure seekers explore underwater worlds at Aquaria KLCC. Getting around couldn't be easier with three metro stations connecting you to the city. High-end hotels and serviced apartments offer plush digs with skyline views. The neighborhood buzzes with rooftop bars and international restaurants where business deals happen over craft cocktails.

Chow Kit
Dive into the sensory wonderland of Chow Kit, where the massive fresh market buzzes with locals haggling over spices and produce. Your nose leads you through aromatic street food stalls serving up nasi lemak and char kway teow. Traditional shophouses splash color onto streets while SOGO mall and night markets offer treasure hunting for the budget-conscious traveler. Getting around couldn't be easier with PWTC Station and Putra KTM Komuter Station connecting you to Kuala Lumpur's highlights. Budget hostels and guesthouses give your wallet a break, while the vibrant market scene wraps up by evening, revealing a quieter side of this authentic Malaysian neighborhood.

Brickfields
Step into Kuala Lumpur's "Little India" where the air buzzes with Tamil music and spicy aromas from street-side curry stalls. Brickfields dazzles with colorful shophouses, ornate Hindu temples like Sri Kandaswamy, and the serene Buddhist Maha Vihara Temple. Shop for silk saris, gold jewelry, and fragrant spices while temple bells chime in the background. Wander through markets where vendors sell marigold garlands and traditional crafts. The neighborhood centers around KL Sentral station, making transportation a breeze to anywhere in the city. Budget-friendly South Indian restaurants serve authentic banana leaf meals and creamy masala chai. Most visitors stay in affordable guesthouses, though mid-range hotels offer more amenities for travelers seeking extra comfort.

Bandar Tun Razak
The Bandar Tun Razak neighborhood offers attractions such as Kuala Lumpur Stadium and Axiata Arena.

Kuala Lumpur and related destinations
Between the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, you'll find a city where street food vendors serve satay and noodles mere steps from air-conditioned megamalls. Explore Batu Caves, where 272 rainbow-painted steps lead to Hindu shrines guarded by monkeys with questionable manners. The National Zoo offers close encounters with Malaysian wildlife, while KidZania provides mini-city adventures for younger travelers. Chinatown's Petaling Street market transforms after dark into a haggler's paradise of knockoff watches and genuine flavors. For respite from tropical heat, the Lake Gardens offer verdant paths past orchid collections and a butterfly park. Don't miss Jalan Alor after sunset, when plastic stools and sizzling woks create the city's most authentic dining scene.

Star Suites KLCC
"Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean with beautiful view of twin towers. We enjoyed our staying a lot."
Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur
"We had a pleasant stay at the hotel over the Pokemon Crazy weekend. Was packed but staff were rather efficient at the check-in counter. All good"
JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur
"Location: right in Bukit Bintang, opposite Pavillion, few steps from Lot 10. Connected to KLCC by a walkway, though took a good 10-15 mins to walk. Room: nice room and awesome bathroom. Love that bathtub and shower were enclosed and won’t wet the bathroom floor. The only criticism is flimsy thin useless pillows. Four of them equal the thickness of one pillow at Penang Marriot! That is a big let down. Gym: very nice and clean, good air conditioning. Amenities: comfortable bathrob and slippers. Nice shampoo etc. Extra point: awesome to find a Bible! Able to do our nightly reading on a hard cope instead of online."
Aloft by Marriott Kuala Lumpur Sentral
"Amazing breakfast, helpful staff, very well located at KL Sentral station."
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur
"Stayed in the club collection. Wonderful range of food in the afternoon. Breakfast quiet and relaxing. Pool out of action during our stay."
