Polmont
Polmont offers an authentic slice of Scottish suburban life with excellent rail connections to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The quiet streets and charming stone cottages give travelers a peaceful base for exploring central Scotland. Union Canal towpath and Polmont Woods provide perfect spots for countryside strolls where you'll hear nothing but birdsong and the occasional passing train. Local pubs serve traditional Scottish fare in a relaxed setting where you can chat with friendly residents. Most travelers choose cozy B&Bs in converted Victorian homes over the limited hotel options. With Polmont Station just steps away, you can enjoy this tranquil neighborhood and still reach Scotland's major cities in under an hour.

Airth
Airth brings medieval Scotland to life with its imposing stone castle, ancient church ruins, and quiet cobblestone streets lined with traditional cottages. The village offers peaceful riverside walks along the Forth and countryside trails through rolling green landscapes. History buffs can explore the weathered facades that tell stories of Highland heritage while photographers capture timeless Scottish vistas. A single traditional pub serves hearty Scottish fare like haggis and local ales, with limited but charming B&B accommodations in converted homes. The village is easily walkable, though public transport is minimal, making it perfect for travelers seeking authentic Scottish tranquility away from tourist crowds.

Slamannan
Slamannan offers a peaceful escape into authentic Scottish village life. The historic parish church stands proudly among weathered stone cottages, while remnants of coal mining heritage dot the rolling countryside. Take leisurely walks through farmland paths, chat with locals at the village pub, or use this budget-friendly base to explore central Scotland's attractions like the Falkirk Wheel. Traditional Scottish pubs serve hearty comfort food and local ales in this unpretentious village. Accommodation options include charming bed & breakfasts in Victorian homes and self-catering cottages with rural views. While public transportation is limited, the village itself is easily walkable, making a rental car your best bet for discovering the region.

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh
"The hotel is on Victoria St., the best location in Edinburgh. Clean room and good amenities. We enjoyed dinner at “Commons Club”. The library next to the reception was nice touch."
Point A Edinburgh Haymarket
"It was a very clean room, unfortunately only one pillow on each bed, which was kind of Chin for what we paid. Very small rooms, but we expected that since they were called cozy. The staff was amazingly kind and helpful and I liked the little coffee bar downstairs this is a very good place to stay if you’re just crashing for the night, no frills, but very clean and the place smelled good and looked good."
Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel
"Perfect location, great stay. Recommend this hotel."
Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket
"A pleasant stay at this hotel, perfectly positioned for a walk to either the high street or Murrayfield. The bed was comfy and room clean although the bathroom was a little mucky in places. Plenty of coffee and pods for a brew. It was noisy outside the room near the elevators. Snacks and drinks from the self serve shop are very expensive and the bar closes early at 11pm. Parking available and at a reasonable price. We would stay here again though."
Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club
"Explanation of directions by check in staff to find our room were inadequate and confusing. Dining room staff was very good as was the food"
Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh by The Unlimited Collection
"Very convenient to Waverly, staff very helpful"
YOTEL Edinburgh
"Everything about the Yotel Edinburgh is great, apart from the cost. I presume that the price is lower once the Fringe/Festival/Tattoo is over."
Apex Grassmarket Hotel
"Clean room, friendly staff, and the area was perfect! Central to a lot of food, bars, and great views all around."
The Social Hub Glasgow
"I booked this stay 30 minutes before we arrived as the hotel we had originally booked was awful. The staff were extremely helpful and made sure we were checked in quickly as we had an event to attend. The interiors were really cool and we felt really comfortable immediately. The location was perfect too. Very central and we managed to park in a local car park a 3 minute walk away. Overall we would highly recommend. X"
