Top neighborhoods in Liberia

Los Cerros
Los Cerros gives you a front-row seat to authentic Costa Rican family life without the tourist price tag. This colorful residential neighborhood on Liberia's outskirts features bright turquoise and coral homes where roosters serve as your morning alarm clock. Church of La Ermita La Agonia stands as the main local landmark worth visiting. The mountain backdrop creates a peaceful atmosphere perfect for travelers seeking genuine cultural immersion. Family-run sodas serve traditional casado plates and fresh fruit drinks. Budget guesthouses and homestays offer chances to practice your Spanish with welcoming hosts. While public transportation is limited, renting a car provides the freedom to explore Guanacaste's stunning beaches just 30-45 minutes away.

El Capulín
El Capulín offers an authentic slice of Costa Rican life away from tourist crowds. This quiet residential neighborhood provides a peaceful home base for exploring Liberia and beyond. While the area itself has few attractions, you're just a short trip from Museo de Guanacaste, Liberia Parque Central, and the colorful Sabanero Statue that celebrates local cowboy culture. Family-run sodas serve delicious traditional meals at budget-friendly prices. Accommodations range from cozy guesthouses to vacation rentals, all offering genuine Tico hospitality. A rental car is recommended for beach trips and exploring the region, as public transportation is limited in this suburban setting.

CC Beach Front Papagayo All Inclusive
"Staff was nice and helpful, and the resort is right on the beach which was nice. 2 pools with swim up bars but they close at 5. The buffet food is not very good. They also don’t really stock your mini bar in the room. Only a couple beers water and coke. Nothing else. Overall I enjoyed Costa Rica it’s a beautiful country but the resort was underwhelming and could have been better."
Condovac la Costa
"The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. Shoutout to Lewis the bartender! Resort need to be updated slightly but my room was clean and the views gorgeous. Also can’t beat the price for an all inclusive. Will definitely return!"

Planet Hollywood Costa Rica by Royalton, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort
"Check in was smooth. Diana, one of the managers, welcomed us upon arrival and took my number to keep in touch throughout the week to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. She also said goodbye and asked us for in person feedback on our way out to make sure everything was good on our trip. The resort is on a steep hillside, but the trolleys come on a regular basis. Buildings 17-19 are probably the most convenient to access the lobby and the pool/beach if you decide to walk up the stairs (totally doable). Our group had 3 girls sharing a room and stayed in 19105 (2 double beds and a pullout couch) - the room was cleaned daily, fridge restocked daily, AC worked well and a ceiling fan kept the room extra comfortable. The amenities were great - we enjoyed all 6 à la carte restaurants (1 - Guy Fieri’s burger bar was open for lunch service only), 1 buffet restaurant, 5 bars and a coffee bar. The coffee bar had amazing hand crafted coffees and fresh pressed juices. Food was good everywhere we ate. The gym was indoors (AC). Daily poolside and evening entertainment (main building) was fun. The resort is very family friendly and the complimentary activities at the beach were great and easy to book. Costa Rica had excellent excursions and activities for everyone. The nexus group was helpful in selecting and booking activities. The staff at Planet Hollywood CR have to be the kindest and most helpful I’ve experienced at any AI resort. We loved our stay! Thank you"
