Nice place to visit. 3 or 4 days is perfect. Make sure you walk the ramparts of the castle. The castle area (which is big) is vibrant, lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops. People still live inside castle walls, and we understand it is open 24/7

Restaurants in Cite have excellent food! Castle rooms mostly empty but good documentation, some signs even with English included (Unusual in France). Headset good. Takes less than 2 hours to tour.

Quiet areas and busy. Loads of eating options and the castle was amazing. The train station was close to city centre and the trains to other nearby locations were easy to visit

A lovely old city. If you are staying the other side of the river, as we were, the walk up is challenging if you have any mobility issues, there is a car park near the Narbonne gate. The square with cafes etc. is really good for people watching.

The city is attractive. The buildings quite old and well maintained. Christmas decorations were amazing. Shops well presented. Proximity of the Citadel is a plus.

Campanile Carcassonne Est La Cite

"I booked this hotel at the last minute and was extremely pleased with my choice. The hotel lobby was large, clean, and inviting, and the receptionist was friendly and very helpful. Our room was large and clean, and the bathroom sparkled. The accommodation was excellent! The downside however was the restaurant. Our dinners were expensive, bland, and the choices were limited at the buffet counter. The service was good, which helped mitigate an otherwise negative experience.
I highly recommend this hotel, but would suggest dining elsewhere. "

"A beautiful hotel inside the walled city of Carcassonne. Wished we’d added another night. To our stay. Comfortable beds and the breakfast was excellent. "
"Loved this hotel. Really clean and comfortable, and the location is great. Both for the citadel and the restaurants and shops further along Rue Trivalle. The pool and seating area were a welcome place to relax and cool off. The staff were all friendly and welcoming (and spoke good English if, like me, your French isn't the best!) Secure parking an added bonus too."
"Everything here was great! A beautiful hotel, in a medieval building, perfectly situated on a quiet street (rare) in the center of historic Carcassonne. Very friendly staff, splendid room with generous amenities and a very well appointed bathroom (L'Occitane en Provence). Overall perfect stay!"
