IL LEON D'ORO HOTEL BARI – BY FARACE HOTELS
10/10 Excellent
"Love love love this hotel , ideally located 2 min walk from train station . Great base for day trips . Also close to bus station which we used to visit Alberobello. Rooftop bar contemporary as is the rest of the hotel , not traditional Italian inside but that’s why I loved the contemporary/modern feel. Would definitely visit again, can’t wait…
Only downfall is no pool but too busy exploring the city to notice ."
"Breakfast was excellent. Variety including fresh seasonal fruit, breads, cold cuts and juice. Dining area was very pretty. I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a welcome drink and some light snacks at the bar. Also every day in the bar lounge area they have set up a coffee, tea, water, and juice station. This came in very handy in between my touring when I’d come back to the hotel for a short rest. You could literally walk to the train station in three minutes, and you have access to public transit. The room was very spacious and clean vast majority of the staff are helpful and competent. I do find that the front desk is overwhelmed as there are many large tours that check in and check out. So if you wanna ask them a question about where to go and some Logistics, they do not have much time to help. The bed was comfortable, but it could be improved with a quality mattress pad that many hotels use."
"Nice hotel close to airport with parking garage, and parking was included.
Breakfast buffet was very good. Other meals were just average, I would go elsewhere.
We were there only one night, So I cannot comment about the pool, spa, or other amenities."
"The hotel was a great base , the centre of Bari was a 40 min walk away which we did do & we also caught the local public bus which takes about 15 mins & only costs 1 euro each way if you purchase ticket from a tabaconists prior.
Pool was out of use as out of season .
Breakfasts were ample to start the day off.
More of a business hotel & would have preferred to be closer to centre but a good base."
"No English tv. Floor of room needed cleaning. When I complained, it was cleaned.
Bus connection to airport a little chancy. Taxi €25 to hotel and €20 back to airport"
"Travelling as a family of 4 with 2 small children staying at Torre Cintola was ideal. Its location was close by to the main places we wanted to visit (Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, Ostuni, Alberobello, Matera, Bari, etc). It’s right on the coast, so the views are beautiful and worthwhile to take a drive along the road to see restaurants or beach clubs. While we were there it was a bit too cool to truly enjoy the ocean, but the sun was warm enough to still enjoy everything else. The resort itself was very clean, our room was spacious, daily housekeeping, clean towels, sheets cleaned every few days. Our room was super close to the parking lot so that was a nice convenience. Our breakfast was included with our stay. It has a nice selection. We only stayed for dinner 1 night, and the food was very good. Unfortunately some of the other restaurants were closed (we traveled first week of May). We were told they would open up again during peak season.
There’s a little playground on the grounds for kids to enjoy and 2 pools. My kids did use the pool on warmer days, although it was a bit cold (didn’t seem to bother them). The beach was not open. Although I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a beach, there’s no sand. It’s all big rocks. But there are lounge chairs set up infront of the water. Overall a great stay, I would come back during peak season to fully enjoy all amenities."
"Great location for just about everything. 5 minutes walk to the old town and 15minutes to the station for trips by bus and train.
Breakfast selection could not be better but, without a doubt, this hotels greatest asset is its staff. They were fantastic!"
