Learn more about Townsend
Dubbed the 'Peaceful Side of the Smokies,' this gateway town offers a refreshing alternative to crowded park entrances. Tube down the Little River on hot summer days, watching for playful otters. The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center brings Appalachian culture to life through exhibits that locals actually visit too. Tuckaleechee Caverns reveals an underground wonderland with massive formations in chambers tall as football fields. After exploring the national park, return to family-owned restaurants serving fresh-caught trout. The Little River Railroad Museum chronicles the logging history that shaped this valley before conservation efforts. For motorcyclists, nearby Deals Gap presents the legendary 'Tail of the Dragon' with 318 curves in 11 miles.

The Parkman - Great Smoky Mountains
"We booked this place at the last minute. We really loved that they had a pickleball court! The area was also very quiet, which we really enjoyed. However, we did see two large spiders in the room, and the bedding had a slightly musty smell, which was not very pleasant. Overall, though, we had a nice stay."
Highland Manor Inn
"This was a charming place to stay and it was right in the middle of Townsend, TN. My husband and I came to visit for a couples get-away and to run the Smokey Mountain Half Marathon put on by Vacation Races. Sandy, one of the owners, was very helpful and helped us get reimbursed for a night's stay when we were accidentally double charged from a previous reservation. She also gave us a little bit of the history of Townsend and I told her that I was fond of a TV series called Christy that was filmed in the early 1990s and she was able to direct us to where some of the movie set was filmed in the town of Townsend and that was fun to explore, even if some of the buildings are now on private land. It was great when Sandy told us the best places to eat nearby and it is so beautiful there. I was surprised to see fireflies at night as we spent a few minutes in the gazebo on the property - I had never seen fireflies before. This was really close to the Smokey Mountain National Park and we also enjoyed attending church in Marysville as well as biking Cade's Cove and hiking to Abram's Falls to name a few. Pigeon Forge was fun as well as the Skypark in Galinsburg. We would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was simple continental breakfast but the homemade muffins Sandy made were delicious."

"Excellent location - very nice old timey style motel coming into Townsend."
Laurel Valley Mountain Retreat
"Cabin was clean and had a very peaceful, serene vibe with ample parking. I enjoyed the observation deck and having gorgeous mountain views. The location was perfect too, only about a 10 minute drive to Great Smoky Mountains NP. I was in town to run the Black Bear Double (5K and half) and the race expo and finish line were even closer. I highly recommend this location for your stay in Townsend!"
Dancing Bear Lodge
"Cabin was very comfortable and cozy and it was probably the quietest place we've ever stay at night. The guy I spoke to in the office was very accommodating. The free breakfast at the Cafe was great and the ladies there were super friendly and helpful."
