Learn more about Mexican Hat
Beneath the iconic sombrero-shaped rock formation that gave this tiny village its name, adventures await in every direction. Raft the San Juan River's gentle curves or photograph the sunset at Forrest Gump Point where the famous movie scene was filmed. Monument Valley's towering buttes create a landscape so quintessentially Western you'll expect John Wayne to appear. Valley of the Gods offers similar red rock majesty with far fewer visitors. Bears Ears National Monument rewards the curious with ancient cliff dwellings and petroglyphs. After a day exploring, join locals at the trading post where river guides swap tales of rapids conquered and perfect light captured.

San Juan Inn
8/10 Good
"Very funky place. Room clean. Area to sit by river great. One of the chairs broke when we sat in them. Friend hit head on concrete staff couldn’t care less if he was ok."
Bluff Gardens Cabins
8/10 Good
"Very cute and comfortable cabin. It is obvious that the owners have put a lot of time and effort to make it a nice place to stay. Would make an excellent base for discovering Monument Valley, Bears Ears and all the other amazing natural sites in the area. Unfortunately for us heavy rain for days limited the amount of exploring we could do. Also being mid-week there wasn't a lot of open business in Bluff. The two restaurants open, one had a flooded low water crossing access that we were uncomfortable crossing with our car and the other had a 2 hour wait. So, we bought crackers and cheese at the only small grocery store and made the best of it. It would have been nice if someone was on site at least during check in and check out times. Check in began at 4 PM, we arrived at 4:45 pm and had to wait in the rain for someone to come over and check us in. Also, the 2 remotes TV set up was a mystery to use. We never did quite figure it out."
Desert Rose Resort & Cabins
10/10 Excellent
"Staff needs to be more courteous by replying to messages sent to hotel prior arrival . Breakfast was delicious . Very nice and comfortable rooms. Beautiful hotel and landscapes remarkable. We shall return ."
Willow Street Cottages
10/10 Excellent
"Very clean property, Everything you could need was provided. Communication was excellent. Would definitely stay again."
La Posada Pintada
10/10 Excellent
"Very cute, great views and lots of homemade goodies for breakfast!"
Hat Rock Inn
10/10 Excellent
"The outside doesn’t look spectacular but the room was! The king sized bed was majorly comfortable with a nice thick comforter. The room looked recently updated. It had all the necessary things: fridge, microwave, keurig. But the star was the bed!"
Kokopelli Inn
8/10 Good
"The motel was convenient to my needs. Just don't count on food from the K-C Gas station next door. (The rug could use a shampoo), but housekeeping did an efficient job of keeping my room clean."
Mokee Motel
10/10 Excellent
"Nice comfortable hotel room. Checked in late after hours. Stayed multiple nights."
