"The staff here is the most helpful, polite, and hospitable staff that I have encountered at a hotel in my life. The check in was very smooth and they even arranged pick up and drop off from and to the train station, which was seamless. The rooms were very clean, as well as the bathroom. And the location is prime, right by the South Gate, 3 min walk to central tower, and a Luckin Coffee right next door."

"The hotel is very close to North Gate which is great when carrying bags. The rooms are centered around a courtyard which is lovely. The staff are very helpful and we even received a gift bag on departure"

Misha welcomed us and was extremely helpful, we had free tea, we were picked up and dropped off at the station, we loved her! And she spoke very good English! "Wonderful hotel set in an ancient mansion. Staff were helpful and friendly and focused on improving the guest experience. Wonderful breakfast whether you ordered Western or Chinese. We ate the special set menu dinner. Definitely the best restaurant in Pingyao. Staff had a proficient level of English which enabled us to have a better experience visiting the historical sights in the walled city. Our two night stay was a five star experience."

"The place is located at South Avenue within the ancient city, near to Pingyao South Gate, or 15min walking distance from Small South Gate (alternative, take buggy for 10yuan). The signage for Hongyuyuan hotel was not obvious, it is easier to find using address. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The place is an ancient building, do not expect perfect heating during winter. Food and massage are nearby, is very convenient. The hotel have an restaurant, the food is not bad"
