Microtel Inn By Wyndham Mineral Wells/Parkersburg
4/10 Poor
"I have stayed there in the past and had wonderful experiences. My only issue (and it may have been poor communication skills) was at check-in. The desk clerk demanded my credit card so she could run it through. When I pointed out to her that I booked through Hotels.com and that the funds had already been deducted from my account and that I had a digital receipt on my phone. She then said something about a fifty dollar security deposit. She then replied something about calling "Steve", considered a moment then gave me a key card and I went to my room. Either they wanted $229 for and $85 dollar room ($85 originally billed, $85 dollar for a second billing, plus $50 for the security deposit equals $220.) or somebody needs to explain thing in a more sensible fashion. Either way, I won't be staying there unless it's a dire emergency."
Postcard Cabins Hocking Hills, Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed in Keiko, cabin #23. The cabin is exactly as pictured. It is small but cozy, with space for two people (who at least like each other lol) to exist comfortably. Everything was clean and tidy, inside and out. The window view is spectacular. A/C and heat work well, and the kitchenette is well equipped with cooking utensils, plates, etc.
In addition to basic bathroom amenities, there are some cabin-specific treats. Comes with - cocoa/coffee/oatmeal packets, small s'mores kit, electric lantern, skewers, AM/FM radio, some books, deck of cards, and firewood bundles for the fire pit. Suggestions: If you're diehard about your coffee, bring your own French press or single-cup maker. There is no television, and there is only one small (very small) shaving mirror. There is no hairdryer. Outlets are by door, counter, and in bathroom, so bring a long charger if you want it to reach the bed. Those are just a few things to note for planning. It is for camping in comfort and not meant to be a hotel vibe. (None of those things put me off, just thought they would be helpful to mention. I even had to get ready for a graduation the morning we left and was able to use the shower door reflection as a kind of mirror with no issues lol.)
Overall, it was a great experience. Hassle-free check-in and check-out, as you receive door codes via text. We have both AT&T and T-Mobile, and we both had service on the property. They do have guest WiFi as well. Will definitely be doing this again!"
"The location is great for OU! The room was clean, but next to the breakfast service, so not ideal. Decor and comfort is lacking at the hotel. The fire alarm went off in the morning without any clear communication. The breakfast wasn’t fully set out on time. "
